Cargese Beach - Bareges

The major attractions of Cargese are its beaches. There are numerous beaches here that offer a variety of activities. The 5 major beaches are :

• Chiuni Beach - Chiuni Beach is just a 7 km drive away from the village. This beach is surrounded by the Chiesaccia and Chiuni rivers on the northern side. This beautiful beach is famous for its white warm sands merging with the cool sparkling waters of the rivers.


• Peru Beach - Peru beach is one of the most frequently visited beaches by tourists. This beach is having white sands, where the tourists can lie and sunbathe. The water here is sparkling clean and warm in the summer times. Here you can find numerous lifeguards patrolling the beaches in the peak season. In the winters, the Esigna River flows on the northern side of the beach.


• Menasina Beach - Menasina Beach is just a few minutes away from the Cargese Village and is popular for its wide stretch of beautiful white sands and crystalline waters. The beach is surrounded by lush pine forest. It is ideal for relaxing with a cool drink by the sea.


• Capizollu Beach - Capizollu Beach lies between Punta Di Molendinu and Pointe Des Moines. This beach is peaceful and the ideal place for tourists to relax.


• Stagnoli Beach - The Stagnoli Beach is located at a distance of 6.8 km from the Cargese Village. It has a UCPA water sports centre. Here you can play numerous water sports and is ideal for those who enjoy a bit of risky adventure. The Bubia River separates Cargese from the village of Vico.

The other attractions here would be the two famous churches that are located here. The Latin Church was built by the Latinos in the year 1850. Another famous church here is the Greek Church of Saint Spyridon that was built in the year 1876.

Getting To Cargese Village
The best way to get to Cargese is through Ajaccio Island. Ajaccio can be reached by plane, boat or train from Paris, Marseilles or Nice.

Best Time To Visit
The Cargese Island has a Mediterranean type of climate. It has warm dry summers and cool wet winters. It is advisable not to visit in the months of August and January as they are the hottest and coldest months respectively. The ideal time to visit is June, July, November and December when the weather is cool and pleasant.
