Dona Paula Beach - Panaji

Dona Paula beach of Goa is surrounded by two estuaries called Mandovi and Zuari and is just seven kilometers away from Panjim, the capital of Goa. The beach is an ideal place to relax and unwind, where you can dip in the cool water and bask in the warming sunshine. The Myth Behind
According to legend, the Viceroy’s daughter, Dona Paula de Menezes was in love with a poor fisherman. After facing the objections from her family she had ended her life by jumping off the cliff. Hence, the place is also called the Lovers Paradise. Moreover, it is to be believed that her spirit still continues to haunt the visitor with legends of her lover.

Attractions
The beach offers a magnificent and eye-catching view that attracts numerous visitors from all over the world throughout the year. The place is the residence of the Governor of Goa, which is known as Cabo Raj Bhavan and is located on the western tip of Dona Paula. Apart from this, there is a small military cemetery, which was built by British in their brief occupation of the Cabo, to daunt the French from invading Goa.

The nearest airport is at Dabolim, which is 29 km away from Panaji and 36 km from Anjuna.

By Rail
Goa is well-connected with the main cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Mangalore, and Thiruvananthapuram by train. The nearest railway station to the beach is at Karmali, which is at a distance of 15 km.

By Road
One can easily take a bus or taxi from Panjim to reach the beach. The ferry service is also available from Marmagao. The tourists can also avail of the bus service that will take you to Dona Paula Beach from Panjim in a mere 15 minutes.
