History
The name Bheemunipatnam originates from a well-known legend, where Bheema of the Pandava brothers slew the devil Bakasura. The act of killing took place in this area and therefore the name Bheemunipatnam Beach. Bheema celebrated his triumph by establishing a statue of Goddess Lakshmi on top of a hill.
