Barkul Water Sports

The biggest brackish lake in Asia is formed when at the south of Puri, the sea blends with Chilka Lake. This lake also forms a captivating beauty spot.

A vast area of marshes, islands and lowlands is enclosed by these shallow waters. A large number of islands mark the expansion of the lake. A flavor is added by the fishing community to the water lake, which with their colorful traditional boats docking across the water remind us of the ancient heritage of Orissa.

The Chilka Lake is mostly visited around the winters when the air reflects with the blaring of birds.
Rambha, Barkul, Satpada, Balugaon are one of the best bases for visiting Chilka Lake , as boats are hired from here.

The Orissa Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. has also formed a water sports complex at Barkul where sports like kayaking, canoeing and boating are available. Water scooters are also available in the complex.
